Today the internet is not limited to computers. It has evolved from the desktop to the smart phone, and now it is moving into your television set.

The new technology is gaining popularity and, as with all new tech toys, there are many options.

Couch potatoes now have another reason to sit in front of the TV.

Did you know you can read the latest headlines or submit that friend request to your local TV personality while you watch your favorite TV show?

New TVs are hitting the market that make accessing the internet as simple as pushing a button on your remote.

Mike Sommer of ABC Warehouse said, "It is going to look like a regular television set. Then once you hit your internet button, it then pulls up the menu at this point you can go through and select whatever app you want to go into."

Until now applications or apps were primarily used for smart phones. But now they are helping TV viewers get online with out getting up from the couch.
"What you are basically getting right now is you have apps available on your television. Similar to what you have on your iPhone or an Android phone. You can download on to the television. You can watch your Netflix off of the TV. You can have different apps playing games, different news apps," said Mike.

Just like your phone, the TV has an extensive list of apps some of which are free and others will cost you. To navigate around the app menu you use directional arrows on the remote.

While you are deciding which app to use you do not have to worry about missing your favorite show.
Mike said, "It will still show you your television signal up in the left hand corner, so you can see exactly what you are still watching."

While some users are happy with apps some want the ability to browse the web
William Crane of Best Buy said, "You still have the apps but you also have a Google Chrome browser on the TV. So as far as Google internet searches, you can pull up you Facebook page, any other website you can go right on your TV on your couch."
The web browsing capability and the rather large remote control sets Google TV apart from its competitors.

William said, "How you use the mouse, you use your thumb here and it is just a directional pad. You have directional arrows to scroll up and down when you are on a web site."

Like the Samsung TV, the web is only a button push away.

“You have your homepage here. You can pull up all your different applications like your Netflix, Facebook, Twitter, and then if you want to go on any website you just pull up the search button on your remote and then you can type in any website you want,” said William.

Also you have the option of entering in your favorite movie, TV show or star and the browser will find it. For example you can type in "Frank Waugh" and it will pull up various videos from 16 Morning News. And that is must see TV you will not miss while surfing the web.

The cheapest option for hooking up your HD TV to the web is the Logitech Review with Google TV and that will set you back about $300.

TVs with the technology built-in are more expensive.
