If only more of the common webcams could be recognized instead of just Logitech's high priced TV Cam.

This will never happen because regular webcams work by using the PC processing power. The Intel Atom processor in Google TV is busy enough with everthing it has to do already. So Logitech engineered a special camera with built in processing power, so it isn't a normal webcam and this is why it is more expensive, and this is why a normal webcam won't work.

Digital video cameras work by sending the CCD sensors image to a CPU to process the video image and encoding it into some format. On a PC this processing takes place on your desktop/laptop CPU. With the Logitech Revue Webcam it has its own CPU to process the encoding and so that it doesn't tax the Google TV Atom CPU.

From what I have just learnt, if you use an Apple, you can get a free app on their desktop app store, and they use an awfully lot of different cams..
Even the cams built right in the front..
