Vizio Helps Vudu 'Button' Up More Viewers

-- Vudu has announced that Vizio will include a special Vudu button on the remote controls to select 2011 Vizio HDTVs, Blu-ray players and other devices.

The partnership should help the VOD service generate more movie and TV streaming orders from the growing Vizio audience. While the Vizio devices will include a streaming feature that would allow users to access Vudu anyway, the remote control button will increase awareness of the service, thereby triggering more interest in Vudu.

The Vizio owner can access Vudu by simply touching the button on the remote, assuming the person has connected his Vizio device to the Internet.

Vudu, which is owned by Wal-Mart, has a library of more than 20,000 movies and TV shows, including many in HD. Unlike Netflix, which enables users to stream VOD programs by paying a monthly fee, Vudu users must pay per rental.
Speaking of Netflix, it has been previously announced that the online movie service will also have a button on the Vizio devices. Sharp, Sony and Toshiba are also expected to add Netflix buttons to their remote controls on select 2011 models.
