I'm not sure if this is exactly the right place to ask but I figured it might be where I get the best answer.
To maximize the capabilities of my set top box (GS7), I want to add a raspberry pi to it so I can have a fairly decent setup.

I currently control my raspberry pi through my TV remote using HDMI-CEC. But this remove is fairly limited, and it certainly doesn't have a keyboard which is extremely useful.
I was wondering if anyone knew of a way I could also use the NS7 remote with the Raspberry Pi (keyboard included) ?

    Thanks

I don't know anything about the Raspberry Pi but if it has Bluetooth, it might pair with the NSG-MR5U. The problem with that is having two devices controlled by the remote at the same time using the same keys. The NSZ-GS7 controls other devices by IR, accepting Bluetooth commands from the remote and outputting IR, but I would be very surprised if the Raspberry Pi could be controlled by that method.

So is it easily paired up via bluetooth on devices it's not made for?

Sure but I can't say whether or not it will pair with a Raspberry Pi, try it and see. I also don't know how well it will work if it does pair.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect more than partial functionality. Stuff like the keyboard working and the touchpad working, but pressing the touchpad down doing nothing, the speak and mic doing nothing, volume/mute buttons, and A/V buttons may do nothing, etc.

The NSZ-GS7 remote, the NSG-MR5U, doesn't have a mic so at least he won't have to worry about that not working.

Is there a way to put the remote into discovery mode? No bluetooth device in my house will pick it up and (I assume) I'm turning it on.

Hold FN + the center button between the navigation arrows on the remote to force pairing mode.

EDIT: Think I got it thanks

Most of the remote side is dead (navigation buttons only thing that seem to work) but the keyboard side works perfectly which is good enough for use on the RPi!
