I am wondering why my USB hard disks are identified in different ways in Notifications from in file explorers:

"TOSHIBA EXT" In Notifications becomes "/mnt/media/usb.15F3-252D/" in file explorers.
"WD640" in Notifications becomes "/mnt/media/usb.30A4zd0CFA4D098A4/" in file explorers.

I tried to rename the drives in ES File Explorer but it's refused.

    Why?

Google TV mounts USB drives using a (random) unique identifier, not by Label name. There is no official API for apps to get the label name, but Google's launcher can get it. So, it works that way.

@mcd2000: Thanks for the quick explanation. So, I will just have to remember which is my "big" HDD and which is my "small" one.
