    Hello Everyone,
I've had the Co-Star for over a year now, and bought a second unit last week. There's a checkbox under Chrome settings for syncing bookmarks, but when I check it, the bookmarks completely vanish from Chrome, end up only in Vizio V menu bookmarks. When I uncheck the box, they return. Is this correct, that it ditches Chrome bookmarks where I must revert to Vizio bookmarks only?
    Thanks In Advance,
    Harley

    Hi

Sorry to say, the Vizio Co-Star has a syncing & restore problem. First let me explain how most 1st & 2nd gen devices handle Restore and syncing of not only bookmarks but also apps. I tried out the Hisense Pulse and the Netgear Neo Prime TV. Both units as w/the Logitech Revue that I had at the time and had to perform a Factory Reset on, restored all apps and bookmarks.

The cool thing was that the new devices I tried out all did this after I entered my existing Google account on the devices. It's cool to watch app after app loading on a new device and to find all yer bookmarks present & accounted for. I'm a military man and all I can say is that the new devices acted w/military precision.

All unfortunately except for the best selling device at the time. The Vizio Co-Star. It simply would not, could not add my Apps or bookmarks to the device. So I had to add them manually, only to lose them all because of a quirk w/the unit.

I gave up and sent that unit back. I subsequently found out that Vizio had been sending out units that were already confirmed to be defective! So, that is my story and I'm sticking to it! I hate Vizio w/a passion, but even so, I wish their Google TV attempt to be successful. But I hate em...Lol

    Good Luck...

    Carl

    @Carl,
Thanks for the heads up on this little monster.
I spent a few hours adding them back one by
one last night, only this morning to see they're
gone. I've got two units here, and they seem to
be butting heads, adding/dropping, don't know
which is primary? You'd think they'd have
worked the bugs out of this by now. I put in a
support ticket with Vizio yesterday; but after
talking with you, I'm wondering just what kind of
response I'll get from them. It's no big deal, really.
I'd already made my mind up upon receipt last
year that they still had a few bugs in them.

    Update to this thread:
Vizio reply wants me to call or live chat, but it
appears that the bookmarks gradually synced
themselves over the past few days (GLITCH).
I'm impatient as hell, and so what I did was to
click each v-menu bookmark and added them
back to the browser, but they didn't show up
immediately. The next day, I went to my PC &
Co-Stars (2), and all of my bookmarks are now
there. I can now add a bookmark to Chrome
from any device, and it syncs.

    Update 2:
Did a factory reset just to revive the issue, find
the problem (glitch). Called Vizio, and nobody
seems to have a clue. Asked them to forward
my case to management or engineer. Still
    awaiting their reply.

Just found the defect and the work around for Syncing Co-Star Bookmarks.
Called Vizio and spoke with team mgmt who said that they'll test my
    theory.

The problem is that some apps which are added to the co-star specify that
they'll update by WIFI. That's the virus. I verified this as the possible
problem or relative with two tests:

    Test 1.
Internet connected via wired LAN, but WIFI also configured (wireless key).
My machine has 22 apps added/installed, and many which specified that
they'd update by WIFI. Set Vizio browser to sync chrome bookmarks
and specify the google account, and sync fails, leaves bookmarks emptied.
Solution: Manually add one browser bookmark (which remains invisible).
Then unplug wired Lan and connect/verify WIFI connection. Then turn machine
off for a while, then back on, and bingo, chrome bookmarks are all there, synced.

    Test 2.
Wired LAN, sync fails, so do a factory reset (virgin co-star), then go to vizio
chrome browser settings and check the checkbox to sync chrome account
bookmarks, set the email account below it, and bookmarks immediately
    sync to chrome.

Chrome bookmarks cant sync with wired LAN once you've added wifi updating
    specific apps (viral).

Note: I'm not sure which app is causing the problem, but here's my list:
AccuWeather, Alarm Clock Extreme, CNBC News, ES File Explorer,
EverNote, FilmOn, FlipBoard, Flixter, Fox News, IMBD, IMO, NFB Films,
PrinterShare, Qello, Redbox, Redux, Rhapsody, Slacker, SnagFilms, Solitaire,
    TextNow, Viki

Geeze, you actually have more patience than you know. I don't have time to spend on testing a device that should have been done in R&D. But syncing was the least of the early Co-Star users worries. Just getting a device ya didn't have to replace was a crap shoot. But thanks for letting folks know. It may save others a lot of time...
