I have heard rumors that The Netflix App on GoogleTV specifically on Logitech Revue & Sony has Subtitles enabled. I do not currently own a GoogleTV and have no way to test it. Can anyone confirm this with screen shots??

How to check?? Netflix only has English Subtitles enabled on select titles (currently about 700). They currently have been confirmed to be working on PC & Mac Web Browsers, Wii & PS3 Gaming systems and on the new Boxee Box Netflix App.

Here are a few titles known to have subtitles that you can test:

    About a Boy (2002)
    Above the Law (1988)
    All About the Benjamins (2002)
    The Answer Man (2009)

on the movie description page there will be a "Subtitles & Audio" button/option. (This is the same area where SAP options, like Spanish Audio, will be placed). This shows up differently on each platform. On Wii it is a button, on Boxee, it is a menu option.

I would love to have a screen shot of the screen showing the Subtitles/Audio option and a screen shot of a movie in progress with subtitles displayed (yellow lettering). Boxee forums was able to successfully capture this information for me here and I have been sharing it with folks on my blog, which lists all of the 700 titles since Netflix doesn't.

I would love to formally announce GoogleTV as the 6th platform showing netflix subtitles.

    Anyone up for this challenge??

If you are able to get this info, please confirm which type of GoogleTV you are using (Logitech Revue, Sony, etc.)

I have the Logitech Revue. Yes it is possible to choose audio stream and subtitle if offered by the particular title.
Also there is no direct way to get a "screen shot" in Google TV. Unless you have a Slingbox connected to your setup (or other capture device), the only other way is to take a picture with a camera.

Yes, Sony TVs have been confirmed, but not their BluRay players.

Sony Internet TV is the branding by Sony for both the TV and BD version I have the BD and it works. The TV and BD share the same processing engine.

ncmacasl, Dude are you serious??? A bit obsessive there I think! The Netflix app on Google TV devices is the exact same software no matter what manufacture it is on and it all works the same with the same capabilities. You don't need confirmation for every single type of Google TV device. Are you next going to want confirmation for the 32 inch separately from the 46 inch Sony TV?

    Sheeez!!

Well, I do the site for deaf people and many would want visual proof that it does work before spending the money on the device. (most stores probably do not have web access to test this feature in the store.

Kudos to you, ncmacasl for getting all these "proof". I've been tempted to join Netflix, but resisting because I want to make sure the devices I have at home will support subtitles. Now I'm happy to hear that Netflix has more than doubled the number of subtitled movies/shows in less than 2 months.

In the photos, above, you can see on the description page for the specific movie title had a "Subtitles & Audio" button. click on that and then select "Subtitles - English" then play your movie. Movie *has* to be 1 of the 1000+ titles listed on Phlixie (check "exclude foreign titles"): Phlixie and check my blog for regular updates: ncmacasl's blog: Netflix InstantWatch Subtitles

    Hi,

I have question regarding Netflix TV titles which have captions only on selected seasons. For example "24" have subtitles only on season 3 and season 8. I can't find a way to turn them on - I can't see "Audio and Subtitles" button. Is there any keyboard shortcut to enable them while playing?

This problem affects only tv-titles with multiple seasons. If 1st season doesn't have subtitles than there is no "Audio and Subtitles" button. I think that this problem have started when Netflix decided to combine all seasons into one Instant Watch item.

Do you know if there is any other way to enable captions without using "Audio and Subtitles" button?
