    Hi ,
Just got my Sony NSZ-GS7 Google TV and hooked it up to my external MyBook harddrive , I played a movie through the Media Player Apps but i was not able to turn subtitle on ! I have each movie in a separate folder along with its .srt file , movies are in either mp4 or avi format

On the Remote there is a key that supposedly designed to show subtitles but its not working ! I did first turned on the "Fn" key and pressed the number "5" key which should have showed the subtitle.

Im a little disappointed if this cant be done ,,previously i was using Western Digital WD TV and subtitles was appearing

    Any help will be appreciated

    Thanks

Try naming the .SRT file and video file in the same name. Pressing the FN key and 5 key should turn on the subtitle. But for most of Sony Google TV users it doesn't work. I don't know why this happens. Maybe .SRT files are not supported. Encode the subtitles in the video, so you can watch the movie with subtitles.

Same problem here: I have the SRT file in same folder and with exact same name, but can't get subtitles to appear using the Sony Media Player.

I tried Avia media player but it couldn't even see my external drive.

Are there other GTV media players that can see USB drives (and play media that the Sony player can't play)?

Problem solved: GTVBox Video Player Google TV
I'd post the play store link but I don't have permission to post links yet.

I got the subtitles to work by going to the Google Play store and downloading a free app: "aVia" media player. I tried an Asian movie with a .srt file and the subtitles loaded with the media player right away! Do bother using the "media player" that comes loaded with the apps.
