    Hey Guys,
I spent about 2 hours last night trying to figure this out, but have had no luck.
I can't seem to find anything on the forum about this, so I'm sorry if I'm repeating a previous post. Please feel free to direct me to the post if there already is one...

With that said, I can't seem to figure out how to stream videos from my tablet to my GS7. I have some movies and TV shows on my tablet that I'd like to simply "push" to my GS7 and watch through my TV. I tried using ViMu and aVia, but neither of those recognize the content on my tablet SD card. I tried to connect using WiFi Direct, but that didn't work. I haven't yet tried Bluetooth, but I assume that might be too slow for a large video file to stream. I tried to search the Play store for an app that might help me connect, but I can't find anything (ie. Airdroid).

Has anyone been able to connect a tablet to their GS7 and stream a video (mp4 or mkv format)?

I have a brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, so I don't think it's an issue with the capabilities of the tablet.

Any step by step help would be great!
    Thanks!

This is a really good topic. I use AirPlay to send video (but not files) from my IPad to my GTV, but you'd think there'd be an even better way to move stuff from an Android tablet to a GTV. It's not good that the format of your videos appears to be incompatible with the GTV. You might want to start off with something that is compatible, otherwise I'm not sure how you'll be able to get it to play without something doing transcoding ... ala Plex.

What do you mean by Incompatible?
I play mp4s and mkv files all the time with the GS7. I have an external hard drive connected to the GS7 that is filled with mp4s and mkv files that all play without any problems using ViMu, aVia, Mizuu, or even the basic Media Player.
Not sure what you mean by that...

Try apps from OnePlus Smartware or BubbleUp in the Play Store, basically you want your tablet to be a server and Google TV as client. I don't care about playing video from tablet to Google TV and haven't tried it yet. The apps are free, at least for a trial period but I don't know much about any of them. A DLNA or UPNP search in the Play Store might lead you to other options as well.

Thanks Chris. I appreciate the recommendations and will give them a try tonight.

I was just referring to your own comment that ViMu/etc couldn't recognize the content on your tablet. I thought you meant you found a way to select files to play off your tablet (DLNA? SMB?), but they wouldn't play.

I recently noticed when play local videos on my Galaxy S3 while connected to the local network, there is a little tv icon with # 's on it in the upper menu bar. When I press it, a drop down menu appears and gives an option to choose which of the two Google TV's I would want to send the video too. When I select a video goes from playing on phone to my Google tv similar to how the YouTube app works. Also the same goes for pictures I have in my phone's gallery. When was this option implemented into the gtv media player.

I use an app called Imediashare . Once installed you click on the video, picture, whatever and a menu asks how you would like to play the video - one of the options after installation will be Google TV (also if you have an internet enabled TV that will also show on the list of available options. Not all videos work - it depends on the video format so not 100% perfect but most of the time it does the job. I streamed a video off my phone direct to my TV downstairs.
