guess you just answered your own question and created another pointless thread that will either be deleted or flooded with idiots with no proof saying that they received a call or chatted with someone from logitech.

I think we all got punk'd. I really wanted it to be true that I was willing to believe that it was going to happen without any proof.

I'm not sure if I will ever believe Google again in regards to what's happening with Logitech. So, here's the Logitech Blog which announced it that I'm more inclined to believe.

I haven't kept up with the Sony threads. Does it now appear the Revue will be immediately able to download directly from the Android Market?

Yes it will, Android Market access is one of the 3.1 features.

Assuming you get the HC update, you can load Market to get access to the nearly 50 made for GTV apps.

I thought there was discussion of devices not being registered in the Android Market and therefore necessitating side loading. Am I dreaming? I am asking because I have no other Android devices, so I am mostly clueless about side loading.

You might be recalling one of my posts inappropriately. You can install third-party apps from the Android Market app on Google TV with Android 3.1 (Honeycomb). You cannot install third-party apps onto Google TV through the Android Market website because Google has not enabled that functionality yet.

Side loading is only necessary if there's an app that doesn't appear in the Android Market for Google TV because the developer has not updated their Manifest.XML within the application. That file is how the Android Market determines an application's compatibility for any Android device. If the the file indicates that it requires resources which aren't a part of Google TV then it won't show up in its Android Market.

You would have to either contact the developer to let them know that it isn't available, or try to sideload it from another repository. However, sideloading the app does not make it compatible. The actual compatibility is due to how developer implemented the application.

Out of curiosity, is there a way to side load on the revue? Be it ADB or other?

As long as Logitech didn't make any alterations in Android 3.1 (Honeycomb) to prevent us from sideloading. We should be able to sideload applications just like on the Sony Google TV devices and the Revues with the 3.1 developers leak. There are plenty of YouTube videos that demonstrate how.
