I'm trying to set up a Sony Google TV box to work with my Sharp flat screen. I get the error msg "an incompatible video signal has been received" and then just a black screen. Any tips?

What display model number, need to know if is it1080p or 720p? That message might appear if you have the Google TV box set to output 1080p/24 but the display doesn't accept 1080p/24. If set to auto, the Sony NSZ-GS7 should output a resolution accepted by the display.

What is the resolution of your TV in pixels? (This information should be in your user manual). For example my Vizio 720P TV is 1366 x 768 pixels.

I have read of a few instances in which older HD TVs were not compatible with the Sony NSZ-GS7. In these instances the issue is that even though the TV is classified as 720P - in terms of actual pixels it is not true 720P.

The resolutions of televisions classified as 720P TVs can be

    1) 1024 x 768

    2) 1280 x 720

    3) 1366 x 768

I have read a thread where Sony support told a NSZ-GS7 user that it was incompatible with the TV because the TV wasn't true 720P. My hunch is that this occurs on older "720P" televisions with a pixel resolution of 1024 x 768.
