I tried to sideload DropBox for Android by backing up the app on my tablet (Acer A100 running Android 4.0.3), then uploading it to my GS7, but it force closes after installation.

Does anybody have a better way to sideload DropBox on the GS7?

Thank you, Mrs. Pock, for the suggestion. But that is exactly what I did, and it force closes.

I just have to use the Web version to download apks, I guess.

    ROTFL!!!

    I was so tempted...

But I considered the need for help was more important then correcting the User ID snafu. I never thought of Mr Spock being mistaken for a Mrs. Too funny!!!

    Thanks for the laugh...

The name-play was not an error, I assure you.

But really, is there no way to run DropBox on GTV?

I sideloaded the Dropbox.apk using a link from the forums back in September, and it worked back then. I'm not sure where the link came from, but some searches should be able to dig it up as it was a very popular means for sideloading apps on to GTV devices. Now maybe you want to use dropbox for filesharing, but if you want it to help sideload other apps, I really didn't find it all that useful. With the GS7 we can sideload by clicking web links or pulling the .apk off of a network share with the ES File Manager.

Thanks, jonw747, for the reply. I do use DropBox to store .apks for sideloading to my GS7, but I have to use Chrome to do it.

I have tried with the backed-up .apk from my tablet, which is running Android 4.0.3, but while installs without error on the GS7, it force closes when I try to run it on GTV 3.2.

So, has anybody succeeded in sideloading DropBox for Android onto their GS7?

I just checked. I still have DropBox 2.1.10 loaded and it seems to be working fine. I suggest you search for that version.

You could also just load up ES file explorer and add your dropbox account to it. It will allow you to log on, browse your files, copy them to local. Its how I use my gdrive account on all my devices, plus if you have multiple cloud accounts you can access most of them from 1 app instead of many or the browser. Just my 2 cents.

I realize its not what the OP asked but since it seems to be force closing, its an option.

In case you don't know, in the upper left hand corner where there is a dropdown that says local, if you click that then go to "net" you can add your cloud drive accounts.

I use ES, but I'd forgotten they'd added that. Like I've said, it's just too easy to point ES to a network file share and click an .apk file.
