Light always travels at a speed of 299,792,458 meters per second. But if you're in motion too, you're going to perceive it as traveling even faster -- which isn't possible! In this second installment of a three-part series on space-time, CERN scientists Andrew Pontzen and Tom Whyntie use a space-time diagram to analyze the sometimes confounding motion of light.

Extremely dangerous lava surf photography is completely worth the risk <---(click for amazing photographs)

    by Jesuz Diaz - May 3, 2014

-- CJ Kale is reportedly the first person ever to photograph lava entering the ocean from the surf, swimming near the scalding water and avoiding lava bombs just a few from where he was standing. Needless to say, the risk of dying is huge but his photographs are awesome.

In 2011, he feel into a 20-foot lava tube while shooting the Kilauea Volcano and shattered his ankle. Here's a video of him taking these photos in the water, a few feet from the lava.

    How Hand-Rolled Cigars Are Made

    WELL, BY HAND, FOR STARTERS

In 1974, Dominican immigrant Don Antonio Martinez started a small shop in New York City selling hand rolled cigars. Thirty-eight years later his son, Jesus, carries on the tradition. The shop combines craftsmanship with community, mixing equal parts work and play.

Terrifying slow motion video of a missile that never misses its target (click for full article)

    by Jesuz Diaz - May 8, 2014

-- No matter how fast you're driving, no matter the weather conditions, if someone fires a Brimstone missile from a MQ-9 Reaper drone and you're the target, you're dead. This slow-motion test compilation shows its terrifying precision and the destruction that follows. Just look at that shockwave moving.

You can fire this thing against any target moving at 70mph from a maximum of 12 kilometers away and forget about it-it's implacable. In fact, you can target the driver with a missile without a warhead and kill that person alone, leaving the rest of passengers (mostly) untouched.

    Wonderful London 1924 & 2014:

    *from Simon Smith

In 1924, Harry B. Parkinson and Frank Miller documented London in a fantastic series of short films, known as "Wonderful London". Over the last few months, I have stood in their foot-steps, recapturing their shots exactly, and have blended the two together creating a window through time.

The music used is Symphony No. 4 by Gustav Mahler
