I am enjoying the Revue. But it hums louder than all my other electronics in the cabinet and the old way I can stop it is to unplug the dern thang. Decidedly low tech.
The revue can't be turned off. As of now the only function it has when it is idol is the screensaver.
I read somewhere recently that you can do the three-finger salute to turn off the Revue (CTRL+ALT+DEL) (DEL being Backspace key)
Interesting. Did you try it yourself? I will try that theory out when I am in front of the television. I do know that there are many different finger gestures that one can preform.
From as far as I can tell, I do believe that just does is a reset.. As I tried it it just rebooted the system.
Ah, that is unfortunate. I never tried it, as I don't have any need to shut it down. I can't hear it at all. I have a PS3 and HTPC on my entertainment shelf, and generally the PS3 drowns out everything
CTrl+Alt+Del does NOT put the Revue into a shutdown state, it performs a reboot of the system. This device was designed to stay on. I don't notice any noise from my Revue, I wonder if you have a hardware issue, maybe too hot in your A/V cabinet.
It would be nice to be able to shut it down however I have to agree with what TheSanTechnologist said, I don't ever hear my Revue. Could it be overheating in the cabinet? If so you might want to check into that before you fry it.
I'd like to be able to turn off my Revue - not because I get annoyed with the noise, but because I don't like electronics running all through the night using up electricity when I don't need to.
