thats just crazy!
I believe that I saw them on the GTV Hacker Dropbox account. Don't know if they've been fledged out for Google TV yet though.
I loaded Gmail and Google Voice on my GTV by sending them via Dropbox from my android phone. They both installed fine, but Gmail force closes every time. Google Voice works perfectly, and shows notifications on the screen when I get a call or text message. It's awesome!
Lack of a handy GMail app is a real head-scratcher! (I'm sure Scott has a smilie...LOL!)
Whyyyyyyyyy not? Well lucky you can side-load it now. I can't yet.
No, not really...
I to am confused of to why this is...
Surely in an update later I would think.
Can I call from my TV using the Google voice app?
Interesting question. The Google TV doesn't have a microphone, but if you could get a USB mic to work it might be possible. You should suggest this feature to the Google Voice team:

I've been using the off-line gmail app on my chromebook and love it. The format would work perfectly for the TV. Goggle should be working on a port and charge for it. I for one would be willing to pay. For now though the gmail web page works great, looks fine even with the font set to giant size. I've even used the chat function on the TV.
Ha! Why isn't Google+ on this device!?!
It is. Anytime I'm on one of Google's sites I see the Google+ option in the header.
Fully functional (huddles and such)? Impressive!
The G+ app can also be side loaded to GTV, and it works fine (except for the features that require GPS.)

GTV has a web browser, what so hard about creating a shortcut to Gmail?
Not hard at all, but it would be nice to have a Gmail application (or any email client) for Google TV. That way you can take advantage of the "Share <object>" option from the different applications. Right now with the preinstalled applications, only Twitter takes advantage of this functionality. File Expert added "NFC Tapping" as one of the share options; however, it is useless without an actual Near Field Chip (NFC) inside of the Google TV device.
So has anyone used a usb microphone on a Sony GTV with Google Voice successfully?
Google voice doesn't do VoIP calling regardless. Maybe an app like DroidSIP might work.
I'm not sure I understand (sorry, I'm not very technical). On my computer, I can make and receive calls on Google Voice. Is that not VoIP? On my Sony GTV, I can't do the same. I'm trying to figure out if that would be possible with a USB microphone.
