What's your firmware version (in system settings)?

Sounds like the REL 11 update. It's supposed to be for performance and stability; which could mean almost anything. The Sony box got this update a couple of months ago. Personally, I didn't notice any change at all in the performance of the Sony box after the REL11 update.

Some think that the REL 11 is a "set-up" in preparation for the jelly Bean update. I did think that that might be the reason, but with recent developments (the enhanced-chip Pulse Pro shipped with the Jelly Bean update), maybe not. In any case, there are no announcements what so ever that the REL 11 has anything to do with the Jelly Bean update.

My GS7's performance improved greatly with REL11.
I still wish that I would have rooted it when I had the chance.

You should get something like Memory Booster to clear unused RAM to fix lag problems.
I am using 720p resolution for maximum performance and refresh rate.
To witness a flawless refresh rate, watch a TAS video using archive.org under "watch now" on the TAS videos site.

First,do not stop System,IR Remote,or any other important apps like them.
For increased GS7 performance,go to Settings>Applications>Manage and force stop normal apps then the following apps...

Download Manager,Downloads,Google Services Framework,Package Access Helper,Package Installer, and Search Applications Provider.

Force Stop these once every month to maintain blistering performance.
For a performance boost, you can also do the connect button Reboot (DO NOT TOUCH the factory reset).
I am only using 863MB of my storage, which makes my GS7 run even faster.
The method might work similarly with ASUS Cube, but who knows?
