I bought a new Sony NSZ-GS8 on Sunday. It's been a little quirky but most things work on it. The maddening thing I ran into is that Netflix wouldn't work at all, period. I tried every solution I could find online, forcing stop, clearing the app data, clearing the app cache, etc... I even hard reset the device with no success. As a final step, I connected the device to my phone's hotspot, and it worked! Here is the specific error I was getting: We're having trouble playing this title right now. Please try again later or select a different title. OK tvp-802 The issue was due to my Sophos UTM-9 (Astaro) gateway. It already had settings to allow Netflix traffic out without interception. However, the Sony must be looking for a path that wasn't listed there. I resolved this issue by adding a static host for my Sony into the gateway, then on the gateway going to "Web Filtering" -> Exceptions, and adding a new exception so that all traffic from the Sony wasn't checked for "Antivirus". It was only that one setting, nothing else was required. Screenshot: On a side note, this is all I saw in the log. Based on this I can see the gateway was doing a block/redirect, I just couldn't see what it was blocking and why. 2014:03:11-08:36:12 httpproxy: id="0003" severity="info" sys="SecureWeb" sub="http" request="(nil)" function="parse_address" file="util.c" line="581" message="getaddrinfo: passthrough6.fw-notify.net: Name or service not known" 2014:03:11-08:36:12 httpproxy: id="0003" severity="info" sys="SecureWeb" sub="http" request="(nil)" function="confd_config_filter" file="confd-client.c" line="2818" message="failed to resolve passthrough6.fw-notify.net, using 2a01:198:200:680::8080"
