-- MediaMall, the company behind the popular PlayOn streaming software that lets set-top box and game consoles access online video feeds, announced today that it has released an updated version of its MyMedia PC software that allows users to cast personal and online HD video content directly from PC to TV through the MyMedia Roku channel. Users will be able to cast personal content, in HD, for free, but have the option to upgrade for $5 to add webcasting functionality. With the upgrade, Roku owners get a little piece of Chromecast functionality.

That is interesting since as far as I know, there is no official PlayOn channel for Roku and discussion of PlayOn at Roku Forums was not allowed. I have never understood why other than PlayOn is competition for Roku. The MyMedia channel has been available in the Roku Channel Store and apparently this new app will be available. A proper PlayOn channel will hopefully be added soon. The MediaMall apps really are among the best available for cord cutters in my opinion.

Roku and Chromecast streaming comes to Firefox Beta for Android - Liliputing (click for full article)

    Summary:
Firefox beta for Google Android now lets you stream web video to a TV through a Roku or a Chromecast. Mozilla added initial support for the feature to its nightly releases of Firefox about two months ago, but now that most of the kinks are worked out you can try the feature just by downloading the latest Firefox beta from the Google Play Store.
