I bought a 55G2 for use in a work environment. Basically, we export a PowerPoint presentation to an MP4 file then we upload that file to a local web server and use the built in Chrome browser to play that file using the HTML5 <video> tag. It worked great for a month or so, then Google recently (sometime in late October / early November) pushed out a Google TV update and now I can't get our TV to play these files. I have also tried to play them locally on the TV by putting the files on a USB thumb drive and then try to play them using the built-in media player (as well as 3 or 4 other players download from the Google Play store). When I attempt to play them via the browser, it simply fails with no error message, but when I attempt to play them locally, I get a message that says the media files are not supported?

I have tried encoding these files in 20+ different ways, using a variety of encoding utilities (Handbrake, iFFmpeg, QuickTime, etc). I was originally using a built-in preset in QuickTime for AppleTV @ 720P that was working just fine. All of the different files are some variation of an MP4 file using H.264 (AVC).

    Any ideas???

That's interesting. Can you make a logcat of playback failure in some player?

Hmm... Looks like some problems with audio decoding... But can not say what exactly happens.

There is no audio in the file... at least there shouldn't be.

Either way, it still makes me wonder what exactly changed in this recent update to make it no longer play these files?

There are huge differences in GTV Media API in Google TV OS v.3. They could just break something. :)
