This is Joerg Tewes, vice president of the digital home business group at Logitech, here to let you know that as of July 1, 2013 Logitech Vid video calling will no longer be available.

We recognize that video calling has come a long way since the launch of Logitech Vid. There are now more widely used video calling solutions available, such as Skype™, and our focus remains on offering customers the best solution possible.

Because the Logitech TV Cam for Revue is not compatible with any other video calling solution, such as Skype, you can exchange your Logitech TV Cam for Revue with your choice of either the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920, which is compatible with most video calling services, or the Logitech TV Cam HD, which is designed for use with Skype only. Both are available at no additional charge to you. Please see the chart below for a comparison of functionality and compatibility between these two products.

To take advantage of this exchange, you must fill out the required information in the online form no later than September 5, 2013. Then follow the instructions below to return your Logitech TV Cam for Revue no later than September 27, 2013.

Instructions for exchanging your Logitech TV Cam for Revue:

    1. Go here and fill out the online form with the required information* by Sept. 5, 2013. Please note that if you own multiple Logitech TV Cams for Revue, you need to fill out a separate form for each one and ship each TV Cam for Revue to Logitech separately.
    2. Logitech will email you a printable shipping label to return your Logitech TV Cam for Revue. You must return the Logitech TV Cam for Revue by September 27, 2013 to receive the exchange product.
    3. After Logitech receives your TV Cam for Revue, we will process your information and ship the exchange product requested if the conditions* below are met.

For Logitech webcam users, we recommend Skype as an alternative service for your video communication needs. Like Logitech Vid, Skype offers free video calling and is compatible with your Logitech webcam. For more information, please see the forum post here.

    Sincerely,
    Joerg Tewes

    * Offer is valid only in the U.S. from Apr. 18, 2013 through Sept. 5, 2013; you must fill out the online form within this time period. To take advantage of this exchange program, the following is required: (1) the valid email address you used to set up your Vid account on Revue; (2) a Vid account established before Apr. 18, 2013; (3) a Logitech TV Cam for Revue in working condition; (4) the online form submitted on or before Sept. 5, 2013; and (5) your TV Cam for Revue returned to Logitech on or before Sept. 27, 2013. Great offer by Logitech, after losing a hundred million dollars or so on Google TV, they voluntarily increase the loss by a few million. Almost everybody with one of the Revue cameras will accept this offer.

Yes I agree. The "Logitech TV Cam HD" product was mentioned as costing $200 when it first launched last summer (although I haven't checked the price recently).

Just for clarification - the Logitech TV Cam HD works with Skype - and is a stand-alone device that you connect to your TV. No computer required. No Logitech Revue required - in fact it doesn't work with the Revue. I had posted a thread about the Logitech TV Cam HD in the off-topic section (including a video demonstration):

I suggest giving Logitech support a call and explaining your situation. Perhaps they might make an exception in your case. Do you still have your sales receipt?

Thanks, Catfish, for this news.. that's excellent! I wanted to also point out that the link on Logitech's site to fill out the form results in a Not Found error. Grr.

    1. Went to the Logitech site indicated in the post here
    2. Submitted the needed information from the site (Vid Video User ID, and 3 numbers from the little tab on the USB cable that connects the camera to your review via email
    3. Received confirmation of my submission in less than an hour
    4. Received another email with a downloadable pre-paid UPS label to return to Logitech in Phoenix
    5. Put my camera in a box and dropped it off at the local UPS store on Wednesday, May 8th
I'll let you know how long it takes to get my free replacement. I chose the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 Logitech TV Cam HD because the laptop that I use does not have a built in webcam and it's a more portable solution than adding the TV Cam to my TV

Funny they make millions for a stupid mouse..but yet they lose money on google tv? wow billions I'd say yes,but really?
Logitech should look at companies who've lost everything, who don't have billions to play with..they said oh yeah we're looking forward to a long term relationship with google tv..1 month after that announcement...De Luca declides "Nah I never said that" kinda like the current news which we won't get into..hope Clinton is never ceo of logitech..lol

Received an email from Logitech that the replacement web cam I chose is in transit via UPS ground. Target date to receive is Monday. About 1 week turn around if they hit the Monday delivery target!

I received the new replacement Logitech HD Pro Webcam (C920 model) today, less than 10 days after mailing back my old Revue compatible Vid Camera. Looks brand new in the original packaging. Will not have a chance to plug it into my laptop for a couple of days but it looks like it will be a very good webcam.

Current price on Amazon is $79.99 so not a bad deal as a replacement for a used camera that will be non-functional soon!

Agree that the Logitech TV Cam option could be a very good option for those that want to use the web camera and their HD TV. I found though that when I used the Revue camera I felt constricted by needing to use it in the room where the revue was attached to my TV, by getting the laptop option I have more flexibility to use it wherever I want in the house or outside so I switched to the other camera.
