Will Revue and the attached IR Blasters be able to control more than one DirecTV DVR?
If it's anything like my SlingPlayer HD, the IR blaster should be similar to an octopus cable. The actual blaster has 5 (IIRC) "heads" that can blast to separate products. They are also pretty limited in range so crossing signals shouldn't be a problem.
But, this is just my guess.
Your problem will be the video input source.
So the Revue IS compatible with DirectTV???
They say that it is compatible with all sources but has more integration with Dish DVRs and it doesn't need a IR blaster on Dish.
The Dish guide is fully integrated in the Google TV GUI. DirecTV is not fully integrated in the Google TV GUI but you can change channels and see what is scheduled on the DirecTV STB.
DirecTV STB now have an Application Programmable Interface (API) called the "IP Control API" that is accessable via the Ethernet, so there is a possibility that one day this would be leveraged to better integrate the DirecTV giude data in the Google TV GUI. The timing of implementing this new API does not seem to be a coincidence when you consider that Google TV and DirecTV partnered up !
When did Google TV and Direct TV partner up?
Think of the Google TV as a device that works with ANY provider. It just may not be OPTIMIZED or support every feature with every provider. Just like a TIVO works with any provider.
This is what I'm interested in. The latest news is that Dish's exclusivity in this search-ability is short term so Direct TV should get this feature before long...
