Local streaming?!?

    The device's specs are interesting, and the fact that it's running (modified) Android is promising (presumably something close to what the Fire Tablets are running). There is zero mention of capability for local streaming/playback. I guess we'll see what the "XDA" crowd can do with this device once it's out in the wild - we can hope for root and then sideloading apps?!?

    I noticed that in the list of apps for the Amazon Fire TV they have Plex and RealCloudPlayer:

    That's promising. It's interesting that it's called "Plex for Android". If indeed it's an existing Google TV APK, then no reason we won't see Vimu on the Plex TV.

    I will still miss the HDMI overlay (for set-top boxes) but having a device with a current processor would be a big step forward.
