LG Chromebase all-in-one Chrome desktop does America for $350 - Liliputing (click for full article) by Brad Linder - May 6, 2014 -- The LG Chromebase is an all-in-one desktop PC with a 21.5 inch full HD display, an Intel Celeron processor, and Chrome OS software instead of Windows (or Android). LG introduced the Chromebase in December, launched it in Australia in February, and now the company is bringing the Chromebase to America, where it's expected to sell for about $350 starting this month. Update: The LG Chromebase should hit the streets May 26th. Online retailers Amazon and CDW both have product pages for the LG Chromebase and both are showing list prices of $349.99. Unfortunately it looks like the system is temporarily out of stock at both stores. The Chromebase has an Intel Celeron 2955U Haswell processor, 2GB of RAM, a 16GB solid state drive, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, 3 USB 2.0 ports, 1 USB 3.0 port, and an Ethernet jack. It also has a 1.3Mp webcam and 5W stereo speakers, and the system comes with a keyboard and mouse. There's an HDMI input which lets you use the Chromebase as a display for another device, so while LG is positioning the system as an all-in-one computer, you could also think of it as a monitor+. All told, the LG Chromebase has the same specs as the $179 Asus Chromebox M004U... plus a full HD screen, a mouse, and a keyboard. That's not a bad deal for $350, although you could also pick up a decent Chromebook laptop for a similar price.
