Hello, I just purchased the integrated Sony Google TV (32"). I love the television but cannot access the internet because the television does not seem to allow tether from a phone either wirelessly or through the usb. Does anyone know a way around this restriction? Please help!
It works great with my HTC Evo 4G Hotspot. However, it does not see the signal from my buddies jailbroken iphone4. It may have something to do with whether the phone is jailbroken/rooted. My Evo is not rooted and it works great with the Google TV Sony Bluray.
I commented on the other thread with similar questions. 1. Check to see if your phone is acting as an ad-hoc network vs. an Access Point. 2. Unless you are running on a 4G network, I wouldn't expect you to have a good experience. My EPIC 4G using 4G coverage maxes out about 3MB, and with very high latency. Not ideal for streaming video. A 3G phone is going to max out around 700K with higher latencies.
Thanks for the replies! I suspected that the problem had something to do with ad-hoc vs infrastructure. Does anyone know if there is an app that will send an access point signal from the mytouch 3g? Currently I use Wireless Tether for my rooted phone. I read that the latest version should broadcast infrastructure but I don't know if my phone hardware supports it. I am using WPA encryption. Even if it is not a perfect connection, I would still like to try to connect. Thanks!
