Does anyone know if a aftermarket IR repeater wire can be used in place of the wire that comes with the Google TV. I need a much longer wire as my cable box is ~20 feet away from the tv set.

    thanks in advance

It should. I've rigged up a Xantech repeater system before for a rack mounted system/projector arrangement. Everything was in a different room, so line of sight was an issue. My Integra preamp's IR connection integrated just fine with a micro receiver through a connecting block. It is all standards based. The connecting blocks are powered, so you can run lengths up to 80 feet. Worst case your out only $30.
