iPhone, iPad Jump On Google TV Bandwagon

    By Oonagh Reidy | Tuesday | 22/03/2011

Its official: the iPhone is now a TV remote. Apple play catch up to Android, releasing its very own remote app for GoogleTV.

Google TV app was launched in December for its self made Android platform but has now made the move to rival Apple and is available for iPhones, iPads, and iPods.

However, older devices need not apply as it is for running iOS 3 or higher only.

A very popular feature of Google TV to use your phone as a remote control, it's available free from the iTunes App Store.

"I am happy to say that the app is now available for iPhones, iPads, and iPods running iOS 3 or higher" Google TV said.

Samsung and Sony are just two of the big name TV brands to also jump on the Google TV train, with Aussie releases tipped for early this year.

The app allows you to control the TV, change channels and record programmes all from your Apple device.

And you can interact with your TV in new ways like voice search, where users just speak into their phone to get their desired option.
