    Hello Folks,

Does Anyone know how we can install new codecs (for example x264) in the NSZ-GS7?

there is a way to root the device or any other tip?

    thanks in advance.

The simple answer is no, there is no way to install new codecs on any stock Google TV device as things stand now. Maybe with the update to Jelly Bean or with a new model that will be possible but I have seen nothing that makes me believe that is going to be the case. There may even be a hack to make that possible at some point but I have seen nothing that makes me believe that is imminent either.

Gs7 has problems with h264 MVC files and vc1 files with PCM audio. And of course DTS audio (licensing).

I would say the Sony NSZ-GT1 has the best codec support of any GTV device to date and the GS7/GS8 models have the best codec support of the second generation devices although that could vary by needs, the LG models might be best for some.

The newest LG TVs have better support than the GS7/GS8. They do have a problem with LPCM audio which the GS7/GS8 also struggle with, though it seemed a little worse in my testing for the LG TVs.

I had the issue where no MPEG4 movies would play even though they were saved as AVI. If you are having the same problem I got around it by installing the app called ViMu Player in the Google Play store and it will play all the movies I have now. There is a cost of $2.99, but I guess it was worth it for us.
