Hulu is going subscription-only, will end ad-supported video streaming - Liliputing
Bad news but not unexpected. I have been using the free Hulu PC only service for years with Google TV and PlayOn. I may pick up the pay service for a month or two each year but I just don't see the value as a long term subscription. The lowest cost Hulu service is still ad-supported, the subscription fees don't cover the cost of the service fully.
I had the paid service for many years, maybe for 6 years now. Over the years I noticed more and more ads. The most annoying part was when rewinding, or forwarding a part when you missed something. Then getting stuck watching the ads again when you just watched them. Anyways my credit card just expired, and I did not bother renewing subscription.

PlayOn just added a new channel, Yahoo! View Featuring Hulu. I haven't had a chance yet to figure out if it is any good or if it replaces much of what was offered with the free PC Hulu service but I am hopeful.
It sounds good.
