How to Watch Blocked Networks Like NBC and CBS on Google TV*:

    1. Launch Google Chrome
    2. Press “Menu” and open Incognito Window
    3. Press “Menu” select More » Advanced » Settings
    4. Select “Mode” and change to “Custom”
    5. Select “Custom value” and type in “Desktop”
The only caveat with this is when you go to Google TV specific Showcase apps like Vevo, YouTube, or CNET they will show the full website versus the custom app catered to Google TV. But no worries there, you can change the user agent back. Hulu, Disney and ABC can still detect and block this lifehack (but as soon as the Android Market opens on Google TV in 2011 I envision a savvy developer hacking this detection).
Equipped with this knowledge you can now watch full episodes and movies on Google TV from:

NBC*Community, 30 rock, The Office, Outsourced, Biggest Loser, The Event, Law & Order:Los Angeles and more.

CBS*CSI, Survivor, The Twilight Zone and soaps.

FoxThe Simpsons, Family Guy, House, Hell’s Kitchen, Human Target, Glee, Bones, Running Wilde, Raising Hope and more.

LifetimeFull Lifetime movies, plus full episodes of The Fairy Jobmother, On the Road with Austin & Santino, The New Adventures of Old Christine and more.

TBSAmerican Dad, Meet the Browns, My Name is Earl, The Office, Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, Seinfeld and more.

TNTThe Closer, Leverage, Men of a Certain Age, Southland, Charmed and more.

USAPsych, Burn Notice, White Collar, Royal Pains, In Plain Sight, Monk, web exclusives and more.

Food NetworkGood Eats, Throwdown with Bobby Flay, Barefoot Contessa: Back to Basics, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Giada at Home, Down Home with the Neelys, Paula’s Best Dishes, Worst Cooks in America

Discovery ChannelMythbusters, Dirty Jobs, and more.

HGTVSelling New York, $250k Challenge, All American Handyman, Curb Appeal and more.

MTVCribs, Jersey Shore, 16 and Pregnant, Real World, and more.

    Current TVUser generated clips

Spike TVAuction Hunters, Manswers, 1000 Ways to Die, The Ultimate Fighter, Deadliest Warrior, TNA iMPACT, Entourage, Fast Machines with Funk Master Flex, and more.

NickelodeniCarly, True Jackson, Spongebob Square Pants and more.

SyfyRiese Kingdom Falling, Sanctuary, Ghost Hunters, Stargate Atlantis, Ghost Hunters Academy, Fact or Not, and more.

This does NOT work in the Sony box unless I am doing something wrong. I went and changed the settings like described but on Hulu.com it says "google tv..blah blah blah". The reason they don't want this is that it is on YOUR tv and it has NO commercials. They want to make the money off of ads when it comes to the tv. I am having a time stopping Google Instant on FireFox. Finally got it stopped because I don't want Google to annoy me with ads on my computers. So I am screwed on the Sony box because they stations want the ads from commercials (on my tv) and Google is TRYING to force me into being a employee of theirs by trying to ram ads down my screen with Google Instant. So someone hack the OS on the Google tv boxes and get WE (the OWNERS of the equipment) back in control please.

This worked when those sites were using the browser ID/Type to block content. They now are blocking the content based on the build of the GTV Flash application. The only way I know to get around this today is to pay for PlayOn.tv which I don't really like as a solution.

As far as no ADs? Not sure what streaming sites everyone else is using, but from my experience every episode online has built in forced ADs, which can't be skipped. The networks in the short term won't be effected, but as devices like these become mainstream they will be losing captured revenue opportunities.

Netflix episodic content has no built-in ads..that's the one thing that annoys the hull outta me when I watch HULU+ (and I PAY for the 'privilege')..my compelling story line is interrupted with a Gieco commercial! Having spent the past few years NOT watching television at all, I can't describe how utterly pissed off I become now at what everydayjoe sees and accepts as normal. I'm already thinking of quitting HULU+. Paid/subscribed content should be commercial-free.

I did change mine to DESKTOP but a lot of sites still no go.
I have a sone blue ray STB and it's done ok but I have gotten sick of not being able to do true internet stuff and am really thinking hard of getting a used iMac mini and a usb/minidvi to hdmi adapter and using some type of small bluetooth/wireless keyboard/touchpad combo and just really getting the whole internet on my 40" in the bedroom. If I want real internet then I gotta get out my laptop while I am being lazy laying around.
If Google doesn't get this act together soon, then it will become just another high dollar toy I got and not the true integration of the tv and the web like I thought it was going to be. Of course I can watch all the porn in full screen on my tv but that's not what I got it for. Of course the porn sites, they don't block Google tv like the networks. And why would I pay for Hulu.com or any of the other tv channels. That's just stupid.

This worked for maybe a week after release...then all the networks realized it and blocked based on Flash...which is what Hulu Does.

yeah, this did not work. so either Google opens up to the Android market or all I got is a expensive blue ray player.
Doing the iMac mini is looking better and better and going that route with a REAL computer and not blocked by anything except the sites you gotta pay for and all I pay for is Netflix.

It specifically says that changing the Profile will require a reboot of the system to take effect. This also will only work for site that are blokcing content based on browser profile, and not based on the Flash version.

@gamewiz724 what sites did this fix for you?

I did the Playon.Tv workaround today for HULU and it actually worked. The picture isn't the best, I think it topped out on The Office at 480p. But it worked.

I will try this workaround on my Revue when I get home tonight.

Before changing to "Desktop" i tried to go to HULU, CBS, and FOX. CBS and FOX both said this content cannot be played on you device and immediately when hulu.com loaded it said you can not play this content on google tv. After changing to the"Desktop" mode both CBS and FOX loaded and i was able to watch a full episode of NCIS on CBS and Bones on FOX however although HULU did not give me an error message when the site loaded i was able to click on a video and hit play then the video loaded but after about a second of playing it stopped and gave me the google tv error message. I am planning on testing out more sites later today, i will let you know if any others work!

The "Desktop" workaround does work for a lot of the listed channels. Not for HULU though. NBC let me look around, find the videos as I would with a PC, but when I tried to play an episode of The Office nothing came up. It didn't freeze or anything, it just wouldn't play. I could still click on all links on the webpage. Odd.

When I was playing Simpsons episodes on FOX, right when it starts playing I can choose to go full screen. As soon as I get out of full screen, or if I don't choose right away, I have to watch the video in the smaller screen. Anyone know how to go back to full screen? Also, I could only pause the video. I couldn't scrub it back or forth.

HGTV let me watch Holmes on Homes. There was an annoying 20 or 30 second commercial every so often and the video was only standard def. Still, with the workaround, I did get to watch the entire episode.

Lastly, the instructions to get into where you type in "Desktop" in the first post are confusing and not exactly correct for a Revue. It is much simpler to do, but I'd have to be in front of my Revue to figure it out.

I'm assuming you're talking about House on Fox? I have an old fashion antenna hidden in my attic and recieve FoX, nbc, abc, cbs, AntennaTV, ThisTV, PBS, and others w/o paying for cable or satalite. Having googleTV just makes free TV sweeter.

I have playon software and it works on my ROKU and XBOX 360. How do you install it and use it on the Logitech revue?

You install play on to your pc and use it as a server, then open the play on webpage on your gtv browser...
