I was communicating with a developer regarding port his app to Google TV, he thought the idea was interesting, although he doesn't have Google TV Device, he looked into what it might take and found that Google TV does not support NDK which is what his app is based on so the idea came to a full stop. I'm not a developer and I don't really understand what NDK is, but it got me thinking about just how many apps would not be ported to Google TV due to NDK not being supported and would be interesting to know from experts on how important NDK support is on Google TV.

There is a workaround mentioned on GTVHacker for porting NDK apps to GTV:

    GTv-OS (AndroidTV) - GTV Hacker

    ---------------------------------------------------------

Google is stating that GTV will support NDK in the future - although no timeline is given:

    http://www.google.com/tv/publisher/faq.html

    "Does Google TV support NDK?

No. Currently, Google TV does not support NDK. The Android NDK will be available for Google TV at a future date, in the meantime you can build an Android app with the Android SDK with Google TV-specific APIs."
