Look. Google has missed at least four expected release periods for Google TV's participation in the Android Market. Most of us are at the point that if the Google CEO, Larry Page --himself, came over to our homes, slap us in the ass, and said it was going to be released tomorrow then the very notion would still be met with great skepticism.

If there's one thing you can be sure of, is that Google isn't ready to provide the Android Market to Google TV. And regardless of what the alleged release date happens to be or whom it is quoted by, they aren't going to release it until they are ready.

Now that I think about it... once Google gives the updates to Logitech and Sony, those companies will still need to apply their bloatwar... uh, I mean... value add software then distribute it to their customers.

Had they stuck to the original game plan laid out to us during Google I/O 2010, the Android Market was to be released prior to the any major Android OS updates. However, somebody in their infinite wisdom decided to merge the two initiatives which ultimately created the delay. In other words, Market accessibility was delayed by Android 3.1 not the other way around.

I've read posts on this forum from people that spoke to Logitech support and were 'assured' that the Honeycomb update was coming out by the end of September. However just a few minutes ago I read the following recent post from "CatLogic" (Logitech Support Specialist) on the Logitech Revue forum:

"We have been told that the update will come out later this year, but have not been given an actual date as of yet."

See the entire thread here: Re: Guess a monday honeycomb update was just a rum... - Logitech Forums

Of course the update still could come out by the end of September - but IMO CatLogic (the Logitech Support Specialist) is not promising it - but rather hedging his time frame to "later this year". Ultimately it is Google that will determine when the update comes out.

I can understand the frustration with the wait. But I'd rather have the update with some quality apps than just the update by itself. Maybe this can be a poll ;-)

Circle your calendar for 9/30 for Honeycomb 3.1,to be followed by Ice Cream Sandwich around October/November...

Alright the first firm date I have seen so I am circling 9/30 with a black marker right now. If this is wrong, you owe me a new calendar.

Besides what makes you think that Google TV is on the same update cycle as the mobile phones and tablets which haven't even been released yet?

Now that I think about it... once Google gives the updates to Logitech and Sony, those companies will still need to apply their bloatwar... uh, I mean... value add software then distribute it to their customers.

    :) LOL!

Since Sony was showcasing the new Honeycomb software at Cedia I would think we're probably closer than any other time over the past year. I'm still holding out hope for the end of September. However, that said, my GTV is very usable as is so I can be patient!

Yes and the fact that Google released the SDK preview for Google TV a few weeks ago was a very good sign.
