Hisense To Launch Google 4.0 TV Soon
    By David Richards | Thursday | 10/01/2013

EXCLUSIVE: Chinese brand Hisense is set to launch Google TV 4.0 in the second quarter of 2013. The new TV will be launched in Australia shortly after the global launch. Hisense will be the only brand to offer the new look Google TV service.

According to Google sources, the "significantly" upgraded TV service will have a cleaner look and will deliver access to a new range of content spanning movies, music and YouTube content.

The new software also delivers AirPlay-type capabilities, allowing Android phones to stream media directly to a TV.

According to Andre Iannuzzi, Marketing Manager of Hisense Australia, the new Google TV service will be built into a Hisense XT780 TV. It will also be available via a separate media player box, Pricing for Australia has not been set.

Speaking at CES Iannuzzi said "We are the global launch partner for this new TV offering and from what we have seen this will be an exciting offering".

In 2013, Hisense who took over the Microsoft stand at CES is looking to grow their TV share in Australia."

Cat, Is there anything here that isn't already planned for G3 or is this just hype?

It will be interesting to see if the hardware with the second generation of Google TV devices will be able to handle all features planned. Things are moving a lot faster all of a sudden or Hisense is talking a lot of nonsense. Hisense does claim to have the fastest Google TV devices so, who knows, maybe the company's Google TV devices will move on the next version quickest.
