Hi All. I just purchased the Sony NSZ-GS8 but i'm having some trouble getting it to work with java enabled sites. One of the main reasons that we purchased this device was to pull up streaming stock quotes for my dad on the tv but the page wont load and from reading the FAQ's for the website the error seems to haveto do with java. Do I need to download or do something so that java enabled sites can load? thanks for any help you can offer!

Hi. GTV doesn't support Java plug-ins. Updating the Java plug-in only works with desktop computers. If you can post the URL I'll try the site with my Revue and post my findings.

GTV does too support Java, even in other browsers.
You just can't update it,which sucks because our old as Larry King version is REALLY slow in most cases.

I have it playing smb on the jsnes website inside the chrome browser at a crappy 8fps with sound on my GS7.

It could be a site specific issue.

I thought this explanation from Eferzz in the following thread was correct?

    Java? - Logitech Forums

    From the above link:

I take it the Revue (Honeycomb) doesn't have Java (JRE), does it?

Technically, Dalvik is the compatible Java runtime environment for Android devices. However, your answer would be, "no". GTV Chrome only supports JavaScript and cannot install addons, extensions, or plug-ins like JRE.**

Some sites must require the java plugin.
I thought JavaScript was Java in itself.
    Sorry,I am all mixed up.

I think he's referring to the Java Yahoo Finance Stock Screener. Stock Screener - Yahoo! Finance I wish I could gain access to that, too! Alas, only the HTML Screener works with GTV.
