"Ted Sarandos, the person in charge of acquiring content for Netflix, told CNet's Greg Sandoval that studios were overly concerned with protecting their content and that the concern didn't always match the threat. Whether that statement holds true is a matter of opinin, however the acquisition of Woodvine can only be seen as a great thing for Google." Well, yes and no. We know Netflix does not have an Android App, for fear of copyright protection issues, so Ted knows the score on that wrt the studios, and his opinion on why (overly converned versus the threat) is also well-founded; however, the 'slice of pie', which includes a large dose of control (plus advertising revenues, etc,) is the real reason...copyright protection exists to 'control', and they've been granted a legal remedy to enforce..so this whole scenario is to get paid AND retain 'control', to which Google so far has shown limited interest in securing. How could Roku do so (for instance, with HULU+) and Google not? Hmmm?
