The networks complain that Google TV doesnt prevent piracy, and doesnt include DRM. Yesterday, Google announced strenghtened measures to deal with piracy, and today announced that theyve acquired Widevine, a leading video-on-demand company that just happens to have a strong DRM solution. Good enough for the networks? NBC is already using it, as well as Netflix. The VOD component will come in real handy, but if I had to guess, the DRM is what is going to be most useful out of the gate. This seems to be a message from Google to the networks saying that they are deadly serious about this TV business. Im still hopeful for network full episode content returning to Google TV by Christmas. WordPress > Blog Tool and Publishing Platform
