As far as I know, no Google TV device to date uses dual band Wi-Fi but I haven't seen confirmation yet on the Hisense Pulse, if you have one and can only connect to 2.4GHz, yours is the first confirmation of what I have expected. I recently purchased two different Roku models, same situation, only 2.4GHz. Whatever inexpensive streaming media players offer dual band, they are few and far between.

A workaround would be to use a dual band ethernet to Wi-Fi adapter if you must have the 5.0GHz connection for acceptable, interference free Wi-Fi. There are quite a few of those that work well, the Linksys WGA600N is one I have used but I don't even need the ability, 2.4GHz is good enough with my network.
