My Sony does not see a USB drive attatched to my router. All other players on my network have no issue. On the sony I installed an adroid App that found it, but I why wont the native player see it?

Also, If I attach the USB directly to the Sony, will I be able to write to it from PCs on my network?

Hi. The NSZ-GS7 does not have a "native" DLNA client. The "Media Player" app can only access media through the USB port. Most people (including me), think ViMu (a DLNA client and more) is worth the money.

If I'm following, you might be trying to make the NSZ-GS7 into an SMB server? While the unit will run a handful of Android apps, I don't believe there's any way to turn it into an SMB server.

ViMu is a terrific app and it's what I use, but if you want to see what you can do for free, download ES File Explorer. You can use it to transfer files off network shares, and even play some types of files and/or direct them to other players.

I tried ViMu- didn't work. I have a Asus rt 56U router with an attached USB drive. The Logitech Revue saw it natively- but recently began having issues remembering the media device.
My Sony GS7- didn't see it at all.
My Asus Cube did- but it's through an ASUS app.
Any suggestions to make the sony see a drive?

Try Avia Media Player or MediaHouse UPnP/DLNA Browser or any number of DLNA player/servers.
