Whenever I open chrome,it force closes just after loading the homepage.
Chrome also force closes when I try to open the help shortcut in it.
I have rebooted my STB and it still force closed.
I have also tried force stopping it,and it STILL force closes.

Does anyone know what's going on?

It took me two hours just to get this topic posted with a different browser.

Hi did you also clear data after you forced stopped the Chrome app?

It's sounding like you will need to do a full factory reset. I know it's a pain but that should solve your problem.

I really do not want to have to lose my list of saved passwords AND all my logged in sites forcing me to log back in,meaning I have to guess which password goes to which site.

My passwords are variations of one site's password with swapped letters and added numbers.

My typing speed in other browsers is like a crappy/skippy skype video stream back when skype first began.

I cleared the data, all my bookmarks are gone.
Also,WTF? The info in chrome has:"Uninstall Updates"?

I clicked it and it ran through its course.
Now the browser info still says the same version before clicking uninstall updates (which is normally cancel).

It is working fine now, before I cleared data,I had over 2 Megs in data.
That is probably what caused the force close.

It logged me out, except peculiarly enough,I stayed logged in with google.com page and a few other sites.

There is a way to sync your GTV bookmarks to the cloud - so when you clear data from Chrome or do a factory reset your bookmarks will be restored.

For instructions on how to sync your GTV bookmarks to the cloud see post #10 in the following thread:

Let this topic be an example of how to fix chrome without factory reset, but only if the problem is similar to the one I had.

I guess you could say I reset the browser to its factory default since that is specifically what it said when I "uninstalled updates" from it.

In order (from least hassle to most) I would try these procedures if anyone continually gets the "force close" message on Chrome. (I have noticed that usually a reboot fixes the problem - but not always).

    1) Reboot

    2) Go to settings and "force stop" and "clear data" from Chrome app. Also uninstall Chrome updates if you have that option. Keep in mind that unless you have synced your GTV bookmarks to the cloud you will lose your bookmarks. Also you will have cookies cleared and probably have to sign back in to web sites.

    3) full factory reset

*Note: After each step try the Chrome browser and see if it is working properly. If not then move on and try the next step.

I forgot to tell you,all my sites stayed logged in!
I got logged out on here because I changed my password when I failed to log in with another browser (forgot password).
I guess whenever you change a site's password, your other browsers cannot keep you logged in.
All of my other site profiles stayed logged in after I cleared the data.
