Report: Apple May Launch HDTV In 2011

    By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (April 13, 2011) -- Apple may launch a Net-connected HDTV by the end of this year, reports a Wall Street analyst.

AppleInsider.com writes that Brian White, an analyst with Ticonderoga Securities, has informed his clients that he has been attending a Chinese electronics trade show this week and he has learned that Apple may launch a 'Smart TV' this year.

Rumors of Apple entering the TV category have circulated for months.
"Our research suggests this Smart TV would go well beyond the miniature $99 second-generation Apple TV that the company released last fall and provide a full-blown TV product for consumers," White said in his note to investors, according to Apple Insider.

The web site says White added that Apple is moving at a "faster pace" than originally thought to launch a High-Definition set.

"The combination of Apple's powerful ecosystem, industrial design savvy, powerful brand and ability to reinvent product categories could make Apple a powerful force in the TV world over the next few years," he said.
