Hi all. I've been cooking something up for awhile that's going to be ready for some feedback from the faithful (early closed beta trial) in about mid-July. It would need you to have an Android phone or tablet in addition to your GTV device. (It's a 'second screen' app.) I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in trying it out and giving me their feedback. Please reply to this thread if so.

    Many thanks,
    M-A Kuttner

I will consider it, I am in the USA. I have a tablet running Android 4.0 but plan to update it to Jelly Bean soon and several Google TV boxes.

Thank you for the consideration! It will run under 4.0 for sure. It's an installation on your phone / tablet only, and doesn't need any installation on your GTV box. It's software based on the Anymote virtual remote library. It's meant to help out with your TV channel viewing, i.e. bringing a somewhat more enhanced experience to your regular TV viewing time. It will be distributed as an .apk that can easily be loaded to your device from the email attachment, and easily completely deleted as well. There's no adware or spyware installed and your contact and other info will remain confidential.

It's been successfully tested on a Sony NSZ-GS7 and a Logitech Revue so far. Not so much with the Hisense Pulse, so I don't recommend using one of those. I'm interested to see how it will work with the Vizio and Asus boxes, and of course with an LG built-in set. It will work in the US and Canada only for the time being, so I'd love the opportunity to have you take it for a spin.

    More details to come soon...

Wonderful - the more testers the better. We're still adding a few final features and squashing some bugs, so we expect to be ready to show you something by July 15th.

Happy Independence Day from up here in Canada, everybody! I hope your barbecues are hot, your beer is cold, and your company is warm and plentiful.

Progress is going very well on the app, and we will definitely be ready to send it out to you by next Friday (July 12). In the meantime, I'm hoping you can help me with a bit of information: A big part of how the app works is by tagging channels' call letters with metatags, so that we get a rough idea of some of the sorts of content you'd typically see on those channels. So far, I have over 400 channels that are common to many cable networks tagged. However, everyone's local areas have network affiliates that have different call letters than the main network. So for example, Boston's NBC affiliate's letters are WHDH, and New York has some local channels such as WNYE that don't broadcast elsewhere. As mine is a very small operation, I don't have the ability to tag every channel on all of the networks yet. So, to help make the Beta more relevant and useful to you, if you could send me the call letters of main TV networks that you watch most of the time, I'll be able to tag them. I've got the big cable networks like Showtime, Disney, ESPN, etc done, so it's more a question of the local networks you watch. You can either post it here or PM me with the info.

Thanks very much everyone for offering to join in. I'm looking forward to it!

    M-A Kuttner
