First time posting, so bear with me.

We just bought the Amazon Fire TV box and love it, except I'm getting really poor sound quality on Netflix and Hulu PLUS. The sounds like they're speaking into a tin can and it's really echo-y. Our regular TV stations sound great, but when I switch to Fire it just sounds horrible.

I played around with the settings to no avail. Any thoughts or suggestions?

How is it connected and what is it connected to? If simply HDMI to the HDTV, what is the Amazon Fire TV set to output, PCM or DD? If you are using an AVR and it is connected by HDMI to the AVR, that would be my preference but the settings would need to be correct. No way to know anything or make suggestions without any information.

I'm having the same issue with poor sound from the fire tv. Hulu, Amazon, Netflix, Plex, everthing sounds like crap. I switch to hdmi 1 (cable box) and the sound is flawless, back to hdmi 2 (firetv) and it's garbage. I've even hooked my laptop up to the same (hdmi 2) slot with the same cable and the sound is again perfect. So it's most definitely the firetv. I've tried messing around with the limited settings and nothing makes a difference.

Do you need to turn off Dolby Digital + ?

Neither person with the issue has come back to provide more information but I have my Amazon Fire TV going through an HDMI switch to a Yamaha AVR and the sound is fine as far as I can tell after a couple of days. Some content is DD+ but everything I have played sounds right.

People never post details. It's like they expect you to read their minds.
